Your Admission

To ensure your procedure at Darwin Day Surgery is as stress free for you as possible, please see the below information to ensure your procedure runs smoothly.

To help us create a better understanding of your medical circumstances, we require you to complete our Patient Admission form, this can be done through our online Patient Portal. Please refer to our Communicating for Safety - What You Need to Know fact sheet for additional information prior to completing your Pre-Admission form. Once completed we may contact you to further discuss your medical history, otherwise you will receive a confirmation call with your appointment time a few days prior to your procedure. If you are having difficulties completing your admission form online, please feel free to contact us so we can assist you.

To avoid delays, please ensure to arrive at the time specified to you by your admission nurse and ensure that you have followed the fasting information provided to you.

Bring with you any relevant documentation that you have not already provided such as x-rays or reports.

Please refer to our Short Stay Pre-Surgery Information brochure for an outline of the process on your day of surgery including the admission process as well as pre and post surgery.

If you are having IV Sedation or General Anaesthetic, you are required to have someone transport you home from your procedure and stay with you overnight to ensure your safety and wellbeing.

Please note, if you are unable to provide us with this information we reserve the right to cancel your procedure.

At discharge your recovery nurse will provide you and your carer with a detailed personal discharge plan and information sheet. This will include post anaesthetic care, medications, contact phone numbers, and specific instructions regarding your surgery.

Should you require prescription medication, there is an AMCAL Pharmacy conveniently located on the corner of Gsell St and Vanderlin Drive
