Anaesthetist James Corcoran grew up in South Australia, training at the University of Adelaide before first coming to Darwin 20 years ago when he commenced training in anaesthetics. After spending 10 years working abroad in third-world countries Dr Corcoran came back to Australia, to undertake further anaesthetic training and moved back to Darwin about three years ago.
“Darwin Day Surgery has essentially added another two theatres to the capability of private surgery in the NT, and being a designated day surgery means they are very efficient with patients only spending a few hours there,” says Dr Corcoran.
“They have the latest anaesthetic equipment and friendly staff that they’ve hand-selected to work there. The gastroenterologists and surgeons that I anaesthetise for at the day surgery are as good as any where in Australia.”
